    About South Florida Terminal (SFCT)

The South Florida Container Terminal (SFCT), located at the Port of Miami, has emerged as a strategically important marine gateway for cargo moving between the Americas, the Caribbean, and Asia. Jointly owned by APM Terminals (49%) and Terminal Link Miami (51%, a subsidiary of CMA CGM Group), SFCT recently completed a three-year densification and redevelopment initiative that introduced 100% electric rubber-tyred gantry cranes (e-RTGs), expanded yard capacity by approximately 2.5 times, and implemented touchless gate and appointment systems to enhance truck flows and sustainability.

With a berth draft of 15 meters, the terminal is equipped to handle ultra-large container vessels exceeding 15,000 TEU, strengthening its position as a hub for large-scale deep-sea services. While containerized trade through the Port of Miami softened in 2024 due to reduced imports from key origin markets, SFCT’s continued adoption of digitalized appointment systems and green technologies highlights its commitment to modernization and its growing role as a pivotal southern U.S. gateway for global supply chains.
