About MAERSK
A.P. Møller – Mærsk A/S, commonly known as Maersk, is a Danish shipping and logistics giant founded in 1904 by Arnold Peter Møller and his father, Peter Mærsk Møller. Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, Maersk is a global leader in container shipping and supply chain services, employing over 108,000 people across 130 countries as of 2024. With a fleet capacity of approximately 4.1 million TEU, Maersk remains one of the largest players in the industry despite fierce competition.
In February 2025, Maersk launched its new "Network of the Future," an East-West trade network designed to enhance reliability and efficiency. This network replaces the previous 2M Vessel Sharing Agreement with MSC and focuses on reducing port calls, optimizing shuttle services, and leveraging advanced hubs. The network offers competitive transit times and aims to achieve a reliability rate exceeding 90%. To ensure safety amidst ongoing geopolitical challenges, Maersk has rerouted vessels via the Cape of Good Hope instead of the Red Sea.
